Icade Promotion entered into a partnership with CEEBIOS (the European Centre of Excellence in Biomimetics) in order to co-design properties and urban ecosystems inspired by nature. These are more resilient, energy efficient and state-of-the-art, making them an ever better place to live for all.

Synergies Urbaines has furthered its commitment to both the current and future needs, habits and lifestyles of its fellow citizens by making biomimetics (a scientific approach which aims to imitate biological systems) central to the development and planning of authentic cities, places of well-being and harmony, cities respectful of their history and cultural heritage.

Therefore, the objective of this partnership is to become part of a joint innovation initiative with all the stakeholders from the world of academia, industry and politics. The aim is to develop and test in a concrete manner both the technical and systemic applications of biomimetics in designing the city and real estate of the future.

Bio-inspiration is an approach that uses nature as a model of performance and high technology. Energy efficiency, waste reduction, short supply chains, flow optimisation, multifunctional and responsive materials, air and water quality, environmental clean-up, temperature control, carbon sequestration, etc.—these are just some examples of the work in progress which was launched in 2018.

This partnership is an invitation extended to all interested and concerned parties to participate in a movement proposed by Icade, driven by a strong conviction that it is in the general interest to develop and promote biomimetics when designing our future living spaces.

Its leading position in innovation and CSR together with its expertise as an integrated real estate player will enable Icade to contribute to the body of scientific knowledge and test in a concrete manner this innovative, sustainable approach to designing real estate. This project has been carried out in a spirit of openness to learn, act, share and spread the word. In particular, it will give rise to the drafting of a white paper, in addition to tools, best practice models and feedback for the benefit of cities, real estate and industrial players.
