Faced with the far-reaching changes to people’s ways of living and working and the urgent need to reduce its environmental impact, the real estate sector is in the midst of a transformation. Icade is mobilising on all fronts to meet social, societal and environmental expectations. To offer relevant and creative solutions, we have chosen to work with our stakeholders to co-construct our property products and services. Together, we create value at every level and by doing so, we help to build cities that are more sustainable, more inclusive and more resilient and that bring real comfort and well-being to their users.

What is Icade doing to address the environmental, social and societal challenges of tomorrow?

Read the answer

« Icade’s CSR goals are a central part of its strategy. We have made ambitious commitments to reduce our carbon footprint and bring our two divisions in line with a 1.5°C pathway. Icade has set three environmental priorities—namely to facilitate low-carbon transition, promote biodiversity and support initiatives in favour of the circular economy. As Icade is also attentive to its stakeholders’ needs, our objective is to offer our customers desirable places where they can live and work. To accomplish this, we co-develop innovative and sustainable real estate solutions and services. In addition, we contribute to local social and economic growth through initiatives promoting professional integration and diversity, local partnerships, community initiatives and patronage. Lastly, our HR policy aims to attract the best talent by providing a collaborative and stimulating work environment, developing expertise, ensuring a healthy work-life balance and stepping up measures promoting diversity. »

A dynamic CSR policy

Icade’s CSR policy is built around three areas:

- low-carbon transition and preservation of resources;

- occupants’ well-being, support for new habits and lifestyles and a strong local footprint;

- employee skills development, workplace well-being and diversity.

Five priority issues have been identified by our internal and external stakeholders. Particular attention is paid to these issues in the CSR commitments set out in the 2019–2022 Plan:

CSR priority issues for Icade

One of the ways the CSR issues were prioritised was by analysing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Icade has defined eight priority goals for which it wants to position itself as a leader and five significant goals to which it is strongly committed. They relate to operational efficiency, the development of new products and services and societal commitment.

A strong governance structure

To ensure the success of its CSR policy, Icade relies on four governing bodies responsible for devising and managing its CSR strategy:

- the Innovation and CSR Committee, reporting to the Board of Directors: includes three directors, two of whom are independent, and is responsible for prioritising the areas for action in innovation and CSR;

- the Purpose Advisory Board, newly created in 2022, it is made up of members of the Innovation and CSR committee and five external personalities, some of whom come from "Committed" (see below): Brice Teinturier, Deputy CEO from Ipsos and expert in societal transition, Gilles Bœuf, biologist and professor at Sorbonne University, Jean Jouzel, climatologist, Marylène Vicari, founder of the Liberté Living-Lab, and Anne Lalou, president of the Innovation Factory & director of the Web School Factory. The mission of this board is to assess the effectiveness of actions, to examine the relevance of the performance indicators defined in the roadmap for the implementation of the Purpose with regard to the impacts for the various stakeholders and to propose recommendations for areas of progress;

- the "Committed" Committee, an external stakeholder committee: this panel brings together internationally recognized CSR experts, the Executive Committee and employees representing all of Icade's businesses. This "Committed" forum focuses on three themes: climate change with Jean Jouzel, biodiversity with Gilles Boeuf and societal transitions with Brice Teinturier. This forum for exchange allows us to gather the vision of experts, to analyze Icade's strategy to respond to these issues and to enrich it with new avenues for action;

- the Executive Committee, comprised of ten members including the Head of CSR and Innovation, is responsible for defining Icade’s CSR strategy.

Always listening to stakeholders

Icade’s CSR approach is based on identifying its stakeholders and developing in-depth knowledge of them in order to better meet their needs.

To achieve this, Icade holds regular and constructive dialogue with its key stakeholders.
