Our sustainable development policy and commitment
Bâtiment 270, Aubervilliers - ©J. Minet
The scope of our action in the property sector and position as a property investment, development and service company mean that sustainable development challenges are naturally core to our business. As early as 2008, Icade formalised its commitments in an action plan and implemented strict governance to supervise its deployment. Four main pillars: energy and economic performance, Carbon Audit of buildings, responsible human resource management and sustainable financial engineering.
Four pillars of our sustainable development policy
Icade's sustainable development policy commits both our businesses and our management. It focuses on four priority areas, each of which is flanked by concrete undertakings:
- Pillar 1: Carry out “demonstration” construction, renovation and operational projects and take part in large-scale urban projects to prepare for sustainable cities.
- Pillar 2: Permanently improve the sustainable offer of our property by showing exemplarity in our own offices (energy performance, Carbon Audit activity and products, water, waste, environment, etc.).
- Pillar 3: Translate our commitment into daily management.
- Pillar 4: Initiate sustainable financial innovations that make it possible to reconcile investment, economic performance and accessibility.
Ad hoc organisation
A dedicated organisation has been set up to supervise this action plan:
- an Audit, Risk Management and Sustainable Development Department with two full-time persons, reporting to Icade's Chief Executive Officer, entrusted with a sustainable development mission and backed by external consultants to pilot the plan and support operational departments;
- a Sustainable Development Committee comprised of representatives of the company's business sectors with correspondents in each business unit;
- an Audit, Risk Management and Sustainable Development Committee, appointed from the Board of Directors for the governance.
